Stories of Childhood is a place for us to share the insights, news, projects and collections of the Museum of Childhood, Edinburgh.
The Museum of Childhood was the first museum in the world dedicated to the history of childhood, being started in 1955 by Patrick Murray. Now, as a free museum on the Royal Mile, we welcome over 200,000 visitors a year to our six galleries of toys, costume, past-times and social history.
However, there is so much more to share from our Recognised Collection of National Significance. We have over 60,000 objects, each one with a story to tell.
Started in May 2016, this blog highlights some of the objects and stories discovered while we care for the museum’s large and rich collections, and some of our activities and projects.
